Most discussion of the so-called Universal Basic Income had been centered on jobs automated away by evolving technology, but the rolling state of the global pandemic has lead to some reexamination of the nature of work and workers, employers and employees, and surely our essential workers have been recognized for their critical roles and drastic lack of compensation and support from those who depend upon them so much more than we ever truly realized.

So who is going to pay for it? Who isn’t?
