There were several items in the Show Notes for the first part of the Delivering Big Delta episode of FFS Talk. Not all of them made it in, because reasons.
But seriously, this being the core topic arc of the show itself, and after so much reading and pondering, there was a lot to say, and it likely got lost in the talking. The upside to a guest to discuss with, rather than a solo episode without feedback, might be a more focused discussion.

I really wanted to touch on the Physics discussion ongoing about Theories of Everything, and also our most recent pandemic adventures and objective realities in general, in the context of adoption of new ideas. The position here is, objective realities and discussions that advance the understanding of them are of one particular type of world-changing endeavor. While there is argument about the underlying facts, the proof of some assertion, and eventual agreement or rejection, these sorts of changes to the understanding of our world don’t draw in the masses, because not all of us have what it takes to participage in such discussions. Besides that, we have imagined realities pelting us from all angles in social and news media.
Imagined realities almost certainly rely on emotional buy-in, or at least a less-rigidly-defined belief system that is agreed upon by those around us for the sake of advancing a cause that falls into that context. Money and law and corporations exist because we believe they do, and so they do.
Thus, is changing the world a matter of change within objective reality, or change within imagined reality, or both?
Is the advancement of understanding of space-time and quantum mechanics and whanot a step along changes that make life and humanity better in some way?
Is a new iPhone or Pixel phone, or a new smart speaker or epic movie going to accomplish the same? Certainly technology connects the objective realities of physics and chemistry, with our imagined realities of language, culture, commerce, and more. Modern Monetary Theory is essential a quantization of imagined reality getting a great deal of attention recently, with arguments for and against arising from which type of imagined reality rings true.
I included the talk about microservices architecture because, due perhaps to Conway’s Law, our software and systems tend to mirror the organizations around them, and there is almost certainly value in considering the way humans and our systems are structured in real life, around efforts objective and imagined.
Thanks Again
